Cuttack: Cricket Association for the Visually Impaired (CAVI), Odisha is gearing up to organise the second match of the second India vs. Sri Lanka bilateral series at the Nimpur Cricket Stadium, Jagatpur, Cuttack on October 25.
The event will be a huge attraction for the people of the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in particular and Odisha in general, as they will get the opportunity to witness an international match before the Hockey World Cup. Md. Jafar Iqbal of Bhubaneswar and Lingaraj Rautra of Balianta have been selected to represent India in this match, which is an added attraction for the people of Odisha.
“The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), Bengaluru is pleased to assign this match to the CAVI, Odisha based on its performance and achievements in the past. The match is being organised with the support of the Department of Sports & Youth Services, which is promoting sports in a big way and the Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Odisha,” informed president of CAVI, Odisha and international cricketer CAVI Odisha Md. Jafar Iqbal at a press conference here on Monday.
The other contributor is the Odisha Mining Corporation. Human resource and organisational support are being provided by Special Olympics Bharat-Odisha (SOB-Odisha) and Bharati Rath Memorial Academy of Special Human Abilities (BRM-ASHA). CAVI, Odisha will be hosting an international match for the second time as it had hosted New Zealand in February 2017 at the KIIT Cricket Stadium.
The Sri Lanka team is presently ranked number three in the world behind India and Pakistan which are ranked first and second respectively. The event will generate a lot of exciting moments for sports lovers.
The teams will be arriving on the morning of October 24. They will stay in Ginger Hotel, Bhubaneswar. The match will start at 9 am on October 25 and spectators can view it free at the stadium. The match will be telecast live by Doordarshan and the You Tube Channel of CABI. Live scores will also be uploaded by Crickheroes.com.
