New Delhi: India has won the bid to host the 2023 Men’s Hockey World Cup.

The FIH Executive Board announced their decision in Lausanne, Switzerland on Friday. After thoroughly examined all bids, the FIH Task Force had made a recommendation to the Executive Board (EB) on Wednesday.

It is likely to be held between January 13, 2023 and  January 23, 2023.

It will be for the fourth time that India will be hosting the competition after 1982 (Mumbai), 2010 (New Delhi) and 2018 (Bhubaneswar) since its inception in 1971. 1982 (Mumbai), 2010 (New Delhi) and 2018 (Bhubaneswar).

Last year, Odisha had won accolades for its hospitality and state-of-the-art facilities at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar., where the 14th edition of Men’s Hockey World Cup was played. The stadium had undergone a transformation with seating capacity increased from 5,000 to 15,000 and all play and practice pitches replaced with astro-turfs.
