Bhubaneswar: International beauty pageant Miss World will return to India, which has been declared as a host country for 2023 by Miss World Organisation, after nearly three decades.
“I am delighted to announce India as the new home of the 71st Miss World Final! I have had a great affection for India from the first moment I visited this incredible country more than 30 years ago! We cannot wait to share your unique and diverse culture, world-class attractions, and breathtaking locations with the rest of the world,” Chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organisation Julia Morley was quoted as saying.
Morley had previously confirmed United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the venue for the 2023 Miss World competition. India had last hosted the prestigious beauty pageant in 1996.
The 71st edition of the coveted international beauty pageant, which will span over a period of one month, is expected to take place in November this year, the final dates are yet to be declared.
India has produced several Miss World with Reita Faria being the first-ever from the country in 1966 to win the title followed by Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000), and most recently, Manushi Chillar (2017).
Sini Shetty, the reigning Miss India World 2022, will represent India in the Miss World 2023 contest.
