Bhubaneswar: India will begin vaccinating 12-to 14-year-olds from March 16. The co-morbidity clause for administering precaution doses to those aged 60 years and above would also be removed the same day, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted on Monday.
The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) has given its recommendation to administer Hyderabad-based Biological E to administer its Corbevax vaccine to children in this age group. Biological E had applied for Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) for Corbevax for the 5-12 year age group, last week, media reports said.
Notably, children in the 15-18 year age group are being inoculated with Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin shots since January 3.
