Ranchi: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in Jharkhand high court that sought the postponement of the second ODI between India and New Zealand to be played here on Friday, November 19.
The PIL comes in view of the last match that was played at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur with 100 per cent capacity on November 17.
Petitioner advocate Dheeraj Kumar filed the PIL. Following the match in Jaipur that saw 100 per cent crowd capacity and likewise, the second T20I at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium in Ranchi will also be played with 100 per cent crowd capacity in the stands, which the petitioner has objected to in his PIL.
According to the local advocate, he is unhappy with the state cricket association’s move to allow a hundred per cent crowd for the game even as the institutions in the state like Courts, Temples, and other offices are still operating at 50 per cent capacity.
Advocate Kumar has urged the court to step in. He has called for the postponement of the fixture or allowing the contest to continue with half of the stadium’s capacity in his PIL.
