Washington: Indian-American doctor Atul Gawande became part of the US President-elect Joe Biden-led coronavirus advisory board that was announced on Monday.
The 55-year-old surgeon from Boston, in a tweet, oozed confidence that the pandemic can be brought under control, and lives and livelihoods can be saved.
According to a Republic World report, Gawande is a surgeon at Boston-based Brigham and Women’s Hospital and serves as a professor at Harvard Medical School. He also serves as a Professor of Health Policy and Management at Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health.
Known for his writings and books about the medical field, Gawande was also a senior advisor in the US Department of Health and Human Services under former President Bill Clinton.
