Srinagar: An Armyman, belonging to Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry regiment, went missing from south Kashmir’s Kulgam district while home on leave for Eid on Saturday evening, police officials said on Sunday.
Identified as Rifleman Javed Ahmad Wani (25), he was to return and join duty on Monday.
According to reports, he drove an Alto car to Chowalgam market to buy some items around 6.30 pm on Saturday, but did not return home till 9 pm. His family then started looking for him and found a pair of his slippers and blood stains in his car at Paranhal village.
Security forces have launched a massive hunt to trace the missing soldier. Police, however, are yet to confirm the abduction claims made by his family.
