Sydney: Indian batsmen failed yet again! India was bowled out for 185 in the first innings of 5th and final Test in Sydney against Australia. Rishabh Pant’s dismissal after scoring 40 triggered Indian lower-order collapse. Jasprit Bumrah played a cameo knock of 22. Jadeja was dismissed for 26.
Rishabh Pant had put up some resistance, but it was ended by Scott Boland early in the third session. Thereafter, the pacer, Boland rattled India by dismissing Nitish Kumar Reddy in the very next ball.
India’s run rate dropped below two runs per over around the halfway mark of the second session. Pant and Ravindra Jadeja struggled against the relentless Australian fast bowling attack.
The pair could manage to score only nine runs in 60 balls for the fifth wicket. Jadeja walked into the middle after Indian team lost Virat Kohli’s wicket as he fended outside off stump. India lost openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first session. After this, Shubman Gill and Kohli tried to form a patnership. But, Gill fell to Nathan Lyon off the last ball of the session. He had scored 20 runs off 64 balls.
Virat faces the heat online, netizens call for his retirement
There was no improvement in Virat Kohli’s form. He once again departed for a below-par score in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Virat, who faced 69 balls, only managed to score 17 runs. The fans were upset with Virat.
Some X users sent him a brutal retirement message. “Better Retire Virat, Making yourself bad game by game. Can’t survive for long with just 2 shots,” a user wrote. “Thank you Virat Kohli…Now announce the retirement pls…You already have done a lot for the team and for the team sake pls retire,” another user wrote.
