Paradip: Indian Coast Guard personnel organized a special community programme with fisher folks here on January 21 to develop synergy with the fishing community.
The interaction, organized in coordination with the department of fisheries, saw 90 fisher folks taking part along with officials from Fisheries department and Marine police station.
The interaction started with an awareness drive for vulnerable fisher folks who were sensitized about safety issues at sea. The importance of fishermen in the coastal security set-up was stressed, as they are the ‘eyes and ears’ at sea.
They were also briefed on safety precautions related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of vaccination.
