Indian Embassy Assists Family Of Indian National Killed In Dammam Airport Attack

Riyadh: The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia is helping the family of an Indian man who was killed in the attack on Dammam airport to send his body back to India.

The embassy said on Friday that it was in touch with his family and was providing all help needed to transport his mortal remains to India.

One Indian was killed and two others were injured in the attack on Dammam airport. Of the two injured, one was discharged from hospital on October 22, while the other was expected to be discharged on Friday, as reported by The New Indian Express.

Other Indians Injured

The embassy also said an Indian injured in a drone attack on the Shaybah oilfield in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province was discharged from hospital on October 22.

The attack took place amid rising strikes by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels on important sites in Saudi Arabia.

Shaybah is a major oilfield run by Saudi Aramco. It is located in the Rub’ al-Khali desert in southeastern Saudi Arabia, near the UAE border.

The embassy thanked Saudi authorities for treating the injured Indians.

It has also asked Indians living in Saudi Arabia to be careful and follow local laws, especially by not taking or sharing photos or videos of interceptions or places where attacks occurred.

Saudi Arabia is home to about 2.74 million Indians, employed across a wide range of industries and forming an important human bridge between New Delhi and Riyadh.

The embassy also gave an update on the October 10 attack at Riyadh airport. It said two injured Indians were still in the intensive care unit and two others were in a general ward.

“Seven injured Indian nationals have been discharged from the hospital to date. One Indian national had unfortunately lost his life in the attack. His funeral was held in Riyadh on October 12,” the embassy said.
