Indian Embassy Official Found Dead In Washington

New Delhi: An official of the Indian embassy in the US was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside the mission premises in Washington DC, officials said. The incident occurred on September 18, and is being currently investigated by the local police and the Secret Service.

The investigating team has not ruled out the possibility of suicide.

In a statement, the Indian Embassy in the US said: “With deep regret, we wish to confirm that a member of the Embassy of India passed away in the evening of September 18, 2024.”

We are in touch with all relevant agencies and members of the family to ensure the swift transfer of the mortal remains to India,” the statement further stated.

The embassy said that “additional details regarding the deceased are not being released out of concern for the family’s privacy.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family in this time of grief,” it said.
