Indian Food Vlogger In A Soup After Revealing Sex Of Unborn Child Courtesy Dubai Test

New Delhi: The Tamil Nadu government’s Health department has issued a notice to popular Chennai-based YouTuber and food vlogger Mohamed Irfan for violating the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act (1994) by revealing the sex of his unborn child in videos posted on his channel.

The food vlogger, who has 4.29 million followers on YouTube, revealed the child’s gender after he and his wife got a sex determination test done in Dubai. In a series of videos, he showed the footage of the test and revealed what the doctor had told them.

The couple got some congratulatory messages, but the video also attracted criticism. Some netizens feared that it could promote the practice of traveling abroad to determine sex of the foetus.

The state Health department also wrote to police’s Cyber wing to remove the video.

The video got about two million views before it was removed.

It may be noted that revealing the gender of the unborn is illegal in India and punishable under the PCPNDT Act.
