Indian Govt In Talks With Johnson & Johnson For Single-Dose Vaccine

New Delhi: The Indian government is holding talks with Johnson and Johnson for its single dose COVID-19 vaccine.

“We are in talks with Johnson & Johnson regarding their single-dose vaccine. Their vaccine is being produced outside,” Niti Ayog (health) member Dr VK Paul said during a press briefing on Friday.

Dr Paul also informed that the vaccine developed by the US pharmaceutical giant will be produced at Hyderabad-based Indian company Bio E.

“As per the plan, this vaccine will also be produced in Hyderabad’s Biological E,” Dr Paul said.

Johnson & Johnson recently said its vaccine is far more effective in neutralising Delta variants than against Beta variants.

Besides Covishield and Covaxin, India has approved two other vaccines so far — Moderna and Sputnik V.
