New Delhi: Even as the top brass of India’s armed forces have assured that the country is ready to face even a two-front threat at the borders, there’s increasing Intelligence inputs on China helping Pakistan bolster its military infrastructure, especially in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
This, sources said, suggests that their militaries are attempting “better integration”.
According to sources, the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) provided intelligence on China helping Pakistan set up a new missile system in PoK late in September, the Indian Express reported.
More specifically, the PLA was helping Pakistan Army instal a surface-to-air missile (SAM) system near Lasadanna Dhok in PoK. About 130 Pakistan Army personnel and 25-40 civilians were working at the construction site.
The control room for the system will be be located at Pakistani Army’s brigade headquarters in Bagh district, the sources quoted the intelligence report as saying.
Ten PLA personnel, including three officers, are stationed at the control room, the report further stated. Similar construction had previously been reported from Chinari in Jhelum district and Chakothi in Hattian Bala district of PoK.
In June, Indian Intel reported that Pakistan had posted a senior Army officer at the PLA headquarters in Beijing for “better integration” of the two militaries.
