New Delhi: A seaman from the Indian Navy has been reported missing from a naval vessel since February 27, prompting a large-scale search operation to locate him, news agency PTI reported.
The Western Naval Command, headquartered in Mumbai, has identified the sailor as Sahil Verma and has initiated a high-level board of inquiry to investigate this incident.
The Western Naval Command in a post on X wrote, “In an unfortunate incident, Sahil Verma, Seaman II, has been reported missing at sea from an Indian Naval Ship whilst on deployment since 27 Feb 24. The Navy immediately launched a massive search operation with ships and aircraft, which is still continuing.”
“Naval Board of Inquiry has been ordered for detailed investigations,” it added.
The precise circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear at this time.
