Kyiv: The Indian student who was shot at while trying to escape Ukraine capital Kyiv is Harjot Singh, news channel NDTV, which spoke to him, reported.
Singh told the news channel from his hospital bed in Kyiv that he was hit by several bullets and has fractured his leg.
Singh is from Chhattarpur in Delhi.
“A bullet hit my shoulder. They removed a bullet from my chest… my leg is fractured,” he said.
Singh was in a cab with some friends trying to escape Kyiv and reach Lviv when he was shot at.
Earlier, Union Minister VK Singh had told news agency ANI that an Indian student had been shot at while trying to flee Kyiv.
“We heard reports that a student leaving Kyiv was shot at. He was taken back into Kyiv and immediately taken to hospital,” General (Retd) Singh told ANI at Poland’s Rzeszow airport.
