New Delhi: Indian students will be able to resume their studies in China soon, if Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong is to be believed.
“China welcomes Indian students… The first batch of Indian students to resume studies in China in the near future. Concerned departments of both countries are working together,” ANI quoted the Ambassador as saying.
Sun Weidong said Indian students will be welcomed by the Chinese government after COVID-19 times and both governments are working towards it.
An estimated 20,000 students had returned home from China after the outbreak of COVID-19 in early 2020. Most of them are medical students, who are waiting to go back.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said earlier this week that China was working to ensure the smooth return of Indian students.
“We are confident the first group of Indian students will return (to China) in near future. Building on that, the Chinese side will further proceed towards return of other Indian students in a well thought-out and orderly manner,” the foreign ministry website stated.
