Bhubaneswar: Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Pipili NAC of Odisha bagged awards on Friday for the successful conduct of Indian Swachhata League activities, which were undertaken by more than 1,850 cities.
According to official sources, a rigorous evaluation was undertaken and top city teams were shortlisted for the special facilitation held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.
The winning Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) were felicitated by Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Kousal Kishore.
Pipili NAC Executive Officer Puja Rout and Deputy Commissioner (Sanitation) Sanjibeeta Ray received the awards.
As part of the ‘Garbage Free Odisha Campaign’ under Indian Swachhata League organised by the Housing and Urban Development Department, school students across 114 ULBs of urban Odisha were taken to the Micro Composting Centre (MCC) and Material Recovery Facility (MRF) established in the cities to create awareness and to make them ‘swachhata’ ambassadors.
‘Swachh Karmis’ and ‘Swachh Sathis’ from Mission Shakti Groups explained the process starting from collection of waste to treatment and disposal.
