Mumbai: One sees world records in all kinds of actions and feats, some of which you never thought was possible.

The Guinness World Records (GWR) encourages people of all ages across the globe to push the limits and aim to break barriers.

An Indian girl just did that, performing a dance marathon to break the world record in dancing.

Srushti Sudhir Jagtap, a 16-year-old from Maharashtra’s Latur, danced for five straight days to achieve the feat and get acknowledged by Guinness World Records.

“Srushti Sudhir Jagtap has broken the record for the longest dance marathon by an individual, with a time of 127 hours. The previous record of 126 hours was set by Nepalese dancer Bandana Nepal in 2018,” GWR stated.

According to GWR’s Official Adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar, Srushti’s dance marathon took place in her college auditorium, which was ‘jam packed with supporters.’

“There were moments of her being too tired, but her parents were by her side all the time, spraying her face with water to keep her fresh. A very impressive performance overall,” Swapnil said.

Srushti’s marathon started on May 29 morning and continued until the afternoon of June 3.

Once she completed that herculean task, Srushti slept for an entire day.

She prepared for the record attempt over a period of 15 months. Grandfather Baban Mane was her trainer, who taught her Yoga Nidra — a form of guided meditation also known as ‘yogic sleep’.
