Indian Whiskey Judged World’s Best Single Malt At London Spirits Competition; Check Details

New Delhi: Those who can’t do without Scotch whiskey in their private bars, it’s time they tried something desi.

Not everyone may have heard of or tried Godawan Century, but the fact is, it claimed top rating in single malt whiskey category at the 2024 London Spirits Competition.

Godawan Century also earned recognition as the top-scoring product from India, with Godawan Single Malt Rich and Rounded Artisan Whiskey, and Godawan Single Malt Fruit and Spice Artisan Whiskey receiving gold medals at the Competition.

The London Spirits Competition, evaluates the finest spirits worldwide based on criteria such as quality, value and packaging.

Godawan 100 received an impressive score of 96 points, strengthening its position as the world’s premier single malt whiskey.

According to tasting notes provided by London Spirits Competition, Godawan Century offers pronounced tropical notes, a lighter palate and a short finish. It also provides a delightful sweetness on the palate, with subtle hints of caramel, charcoal, cinnamon and anise, culminating in a long dry finish.

Godawan whiskey, created as part of conservation efforts for the endangered large bird Great Indian Bustard, was also promoted by the king of Jaisalmer royal family in Rajasthan.

Reflecting its origin and heritage, Godawan Single Malt Whiskey Is inspired by profound Rajasthani ethos of finding beauty in scarcity while promoting sustainability.

Made by Diageo India, one of India’s leading beverage companies, this rare whisky is matured in specially-selected casks infused with Indian botanicals to further enhance its appeal.

Godawan 100, a collector’s edition single malt consisting of just 100 bottles, pays homage to the Great Indian Bustard, affectionately known as Godawan, on its first anniversary.

The Great Indian Bustard was once a common sight across India, but currently a little over a hundred exist.
