Indian Women’s League: Odisha FC Notch Up 5th Win, Assured Of Quarterfinal Spot

Ahmedabad: Odisha FC continued their strong run in the Indian Women’s League, dismissing the challenge of Celtic Queens FC 3-0 at Shahibaug Police Stadium here on Wednesday.

It was the Odisha FC women’s fifth win in 6 games in Group B, taking the second-placed team’s tally to 15 points.

They are now just a point adrift of leaders Sethu, Madurai, who had to settle for a goalless draw with Kickstart FC today.

Odisha scored early against Celtic Queen, through Ghanaian Faustina Akpo’s strike in just the third minute.

Dominating their opponents, Odisha FC doubled their lead thanks to Bannya Kabiraj’s goal in first-half stoppage time. S Lynda Kom made it 3-0 in the dying moments of the game.

Odisha FC’s Anju Tamang was adjudged best player of the match.

Sports Odisha Down East Bengal

Sports Odisha, the other team from the state, posted an important win a day earlier when they edged past East Bengal 2-1.
