Ahmedabad: Odisha FC jumped to second place in Group B of the Indian Women’s League (IWL) with a power-packed performance against Lords FA Kochi – YMAA at Shahibaug Police Stadium here on Sunday.
Dominating their opponents for most of the game, Odisha FC won 5-0 to take their tally to 12 points from 5 matches, and are 3 points behind Sethu (Madurai).
Once again underlining the all-round strength of the team, five different players scored today.
After coming close on a few occasions, it was Brazilian Cynthia Marcondes dos Santos who broke the deadlock after 41 minutes.
Skipper N Bala Devi, who was adjudged best player of the match, doubled the lead moments before half-time.
Ghanaian Faustina Akpo added a third in the 63rd minute, before second-half substitutes Malati Munda and Anju Tamang scored in quick succession, in the last five minutes, to complete the resounding triumph.
Odisha FC will take on Celtic Queens FC on May 10.
