Indian Women’s League: Odisha FC Turn On Heat In 2nd Half To Earn Maiden Victory

New Delhi: A fine second-half performance helped Odisha FC record their maiden win of Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2024-25 season at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Thursday.

After a goalless opening session, Odisha FC scored twice to down HOPS FC 2-0.

Odisha had drawn their campaign opener 1-1 against Gokulam Kerala FC.

Lynda Kom provided Odisha the breakthrough after 66 minutes, receiving a chipped ball from Kashmina and slotting it home. It was Lynda’s second goal in as many games.

Jennifer Yeboah added the insurance goal in the 84th minute as she picked up a lob from midfield and poked it into the HOPS netting.

Odisha FC, with 4 points after 2 matches, moved up to second place. HOPS, on the other hand, suffered their second successive defeat at home.

Odisha FC will next face Sethu FC on January 21, their first home fixture of the season.
