Indians In Saudi Arabia Urged To Stay Alert As Riyadh Airport Remains Shut After Attack

Riyadh: Indian citizens living across Saudi Arabia have been asked to exercise heightened caution and adhere strictly to directions from local authorities, following the deadly strike at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport and the continuing security situation in the Kingdom.

In its latest advisory, the Embassy of India in Riyadh said Indians should avoid unnecessary exposure and remain prepared for further developments.

“In view of the current situation, all Indian nationals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are advised to remain calm and vigilant, stay indoors in case of an aerial attack and follow the instructions issued by local authorities through official channels,” the Embassy stated.

Avoid Unverified Posts

The mission also warned against the spread of misleading or unconfirmed material on social media.

“Indian nationals are strongly advised to refrain from circulating or reposting any videos or news related to the ongoing events,” the advisory said.

The embassy, meanwhile, provided details on the aftermath of the October 10 attack at King Khalid International Airport, in which Indian national Mohammed Yousef Ali was killed.

“The funeral rites of late Mr Mohammed Yousef Ali, who unfortunately lost his life in the Riyadh airport attack were completed on October 12, 2026 in Riyadh, as per the wishes of his family. Ambassador and Embassy officials attended the funeral,” the mission said.

It added that several injured Indians are still undergoing treatment in Riyadh hospitals.

“4 persons currently remain in ICU, 4 are receiving medical care in the normal ward, while 3 persons have been discharged. The Embassy officials continue to visit the hospitals where the injured Indian nationals are receiving medical treatment, and are in constant touch with their family members and providing all possible support,” the Embassy added.

Air Connectivity Disrupted

The advisory also highlighted major disruption to air connectivity following the attack. The Embassy said Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation regulator had halted operations at the capital’s main airport, as reported by DNA.

“The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has announced the suspension of operations at the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh,” it stated.

While operations at other key airports in Dammam, Jeddah and Medina are continuing, passengers may encounter delays and cancellations. Indian nationals have been advised to check flight status with their airlines before setting out for airports.

The fresh warning comes as tensions intensify between the Saudi-led coalition and Yemen’s Houthi movement, with the security situation in the region continuing to deteriorate.
