New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Tuesday that India had seen nearly 100 per cent increase in COVID-19 recoveries in last one month.
The ministry also said more than 82 per cent of the country’s COVID-19 patients had recovered and were discharged.
“India has witnessed close to 100% increase in recoveries in the past month. More than 82% of total cases (exceeding 50 lakhs) recovered and discharged. Active cases (lower than ten lakhs) a small proportion (less than 1/5th) of total cases,” said the ministry.
Going by the health ministry’s dashboard, India’s COVID-19 count stands at 6,074,702, only behind the United States and ahead of Brazil. However, of these, 5,016,520 are recovered cases, taking India’s recovery rate to 82.58 per cent.
Recovered cases in India are also the highest in the world, contributing over 20 per cent of total recoveries globally. Over 24 million have recovered from the disease globally, in a caseload of over 33 million, according to Worldometers.
