New Delhi: With the addition of a record 92,071 infections overnight, India’s COVID-19 tally sprinted past 48 lakh on Monday to stand at 48,46,427.
This is the fifth consecutive day of over 90,000 single-day surges in COVID-19 cases in a row.
Also, 1,136 more patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry said. The total toll stands at 79,722. This comes as more than 1000 daily deaths for 13 days in a row.
About 78 per cent (37,80,107) people have recovered from the infection so far, including 77,512 patients discharged on Sunday. Another 20.36 per cent (9,86,598) are still under treatment.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 5,72,39,428 samples have been tested in the country so far, including 9,78,500 on Sunday.
