New Delhi: Activist Sonam Wangchuk shared a handwritten note from the Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi on Sunday, calling for his supporters to make Monday’s “Sansad Chalo” march to the Parliament a “big success”.

Wangchuk, who was forcibly evicted by the Delhi Police from his protest site at Jantar Mantar and admitted to the hospital on Saturday, has described the move as his “illegal detention”.

The activist from Ladakh continues to remain on a hunger strike. The letter was posted on his official X account by Wangchuk’s wife Gitanjali J Angmo.

“Freedom from injustice (Like paper leaks). Freedom from Fear (my illegal detention). India’s 2nd FREEDOM MOVEMENT. March to the Parliament. Please make it a big success. Sent through Gitanjali from my illegal detention at Safdarjung,” Wangchuk has written in Hindi in the letter.

The Delhi Police has denied permission for the protest march and there is likely to be a confrontation when CJP members move towards the Parliament on Monday.

While Angmo has also called his admission to the hospital an “illegal detention”, his health is being constantly monitored by doctors. A health bulletin issued on Sunday said that Wangchuk is receiving necessary medical care and his vital parameters remain stable.

“Sonam Wangchuk is being given the required medical intervention at VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital. His vital parameters are stable at present; however, his blood parameters remain marginally altered, and considering the physiological stress and systemic effects of prolonged fasting, he requires continuous medical care under the close observation of a multidisciplinary team of experts”, the statement by the hospital said, as reported by News18.

The activist from Ladakh joined the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar to demand the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan following paper leaks in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026 exam.

He began an indefinite hunger strike on June 28. After the Delhi High Court directed the government to monitor his health and take measures to save his life, Delhi Police teams reached the protest site and removed Wangchuk to the hospital. .
