Bhubaneswar: No-frills carrier IndiGo has fired an employee who was posted at the Biju Patnaik Airport for helping his purported girlfriend avail concessional staff air ticket through fraudulent means.

The accused Rakesh Vyas had got the ticket for her by “tampering” the Aadhaar card, which the 23-year-old woman was using, a source said. The original photo in the card was replaced with the photo of Vyas’ sister to avail the staff concession.

The duo was apprehended at Kochi airport by CISF personnel after they found discrepancies in the Aadhaar card.

CCTV footage showed both of them were travelling together. The police is conducting an investigation into the matter. The couple has been booked on charges of impersonation.
