Bhubaneswar: IndiGo will be starting flights from Pune to Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Coimbatore and Guwahati from December 1.
“From December 1, winter schedule will be applicable for Pune airport as 24 hours operation will be restarting. It has been already applied to other cities. Since the re-carpeting work of the runway is going on, we continued with the old schedule. There might be a possibility that we may get flights to a new destination. The schedule is not decided yet, tentatively it is expected to be decided on November 25,” Pune airport director Santosh Dhoke was quoted as saying by HindustanTimes.
Air Asia is currently operating flights from Pune to Bhubaneswar.
The much-awaited direct flight service by the low-cost airline between Bhubaneswar and Pune commenced with the maiden flight with 120 passengers taking off from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here on January 25.
AirAsia operates direct flights between the two cities six days a week except for Saturday. The flight departs from Bhubaneswar at 9.15 am and reach Pune at 11.20 am. The flight will depart from Pune at 11.50 am and reach the capital city at 13.50 pm.
Meanwhile, direct flight services between Bhubaneswar and Jaipur in Rajasthan commence from November 2.
BPAI Director Pravat Ranjan Beuria also informed daily direct flights between Bhubaneswar and Goa will commence in December. IndiGo airlines will carry out the operations and its flight will depart daily from BPIA at 10.30 pm and the return flight is scheduled at 1.35 am. “There was a demand to start direct flight operations to Goa and Jaipur. Currently, 33 flights are operating in BPIA daily,” he told TNIE.
