Keonjhar: A 25-day-old infant, who was allegedly branded with hot iron rod on July 29, succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Keonjhar district headquarters hospital on Sunday.
According to reports, the baby was branded with a hot iron rod by his parents to cure stomach ailment at Khabra village under Harichandanpur block of the district. The matter came to light after the infant was admitted to the Special Newborn Care Unit of the hospital the following day after his condition deteriorated.
On August 1, an infant girl had died after being branded with hot iron at Kuladhankuni village in the same block.
As many as 11 such cases have been reported from the district in the last 51 days.
