Noida: In a heart-breaking tragedy, a seven-month-old toddler was mauled to death by a stray dog in a housing society here, leading to angry protests and demonstrations.
Residents of Lotus Boulevard society, located in Sector 100, erupted in protest after the news of the infant’s death reached them on Tuesday.
They were up in arms against the local Noida authority and apartment owners’ association (AOA), as they demanded that stray dogs be taken out of the housing society.
In videos shared on social, some residents were heard expressing their apprehension and fear for the safety of their children.
“I would fear to send my child out as the same thing could happen with my kid too,” said one of them.
The society residents blocked the main road outside the Starling Mall on Tuesday, urging Noida Authority to take action against stray dogs.
Noida ACP Rajneesh Verma arrived at the spot and tried to convince angry residents of to vacate the busy road.
It was on Monday evening that a labourer’s infant kid was brutally attacked by a stray dog inside the sprawling society. The child, whose intestines were pulled out, was rushed to a private hospital where doctors performed an emergency surgery. However, after being in critical condition in ICU overnight, the kid died on Tuesday morning.
