Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has directed the district collectors to take adequate measures to tackle the gruelling heat wave.
In a letter, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena has requested the collectors to review and ensure that all precautionary measures to combat situation are in place and activated.
The collectors have been asked to ensure immediate repair of tube wells and piped water supply projects, ensure supply of water through tankers in habitations facing scarcity, opening of drinking water centres at strategic locations, special arrangements in hospitals/dispensaries, primary health centres (PHCs) and community health centres (CHCs) for treatment of heat stroke patients, care of animal resources and restricting the work hours of the labourers.
The SRC has also told the collectors to send regular updates about the situation and preparedness of the administration to mitigate the heat wave situation in their respective district.
