Bhubaneswar: Three household staffers of former Odisha Congress president Niranjan Patnaik underwent polygraph test in connection with January 26 theft of gold ornaments valued at Rs 50 lakh from his residence in the upscale VIP Colony under Nayapalli police limits in Bhubaneswar.
Police sources said involvement of an insider cannot be ruled out since the perpetrator seemed familiar with the house layout and knew when family members would be away. “Our investigation is in progress. We are working on some leads. The case will be solved soon,” Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra told TOI.
While refusing to disclose the results of the lie-detector test, the DCP clarified that there was no connection between this theft and the arrest of a person, who attempted a break-in at another nearby residence of the senior Congress leader on January 28.
