Facebook-owned Instagram has decided to restrict people under the age of 18 from viewing posts that promote cosmetic surgery and weight-loss products.
These posts will be hidden for underage users from Facebook as well, a statement from Instagram said.
“We want Instagram to be a positive place for everyone who uses it and this policy is part of our ongoing work to reduce the pressure that people can sometime feel as a result of social media,” the statement said.
The statement also said that Instagram will completely remove posts if it “makes a miraculous claim about certain diet or weight loss products, and is linked to a commercial offer such as a discount code”.
