Bhubaneswar: The official website of the Institute of Mathematics & Applications, situated at Andharua in Odisha capital, was hacked by cyber attackers on Saturday.
According to sources, one is getting redirected to some random spam website after clicking on iomaorissa.ac.in.
“This is basically called ‘Malware Redirect’, where attackers inject some malware or malicious code in the file server or database server of the website,” said a web expert.
In this particular type of cyber hacking, when a user tries to visit a particular website, they automatically get redirected to some third-party website, usually some malicious resource, scam site, or a commercial site that buys traffic from cyber criminals.
The web expert further added that the developer of the website might be using some outdated plugins or scripts which are vulnerable to cross-site scripting (XSS), which makes it possible for hackers to add malicious code to the website.
