Kendrapara: With the district registering 13 new corona positive cases on Tuesday, the administration increased the mandatory institutional quarantine period from one week to 14 days.
As per state government order, migrant returnees in rural areas stay in institutional quarantine for seven days and in home isolation for another week. In urban areas, 14-day home quarantine is mandatory.
Of 13 new cases on the day, 12 were reported from quarantine centres, while one tested positive in a containment zone. It has taken the tally to 152 in the district which recorded the highest 50 positive cases in one day on Monday.
In a bid to contain the spread of the virus, the administration has placed the Kansara gram panchayat under containment zone, said collector Samarth Verma, according to an OTV report.
“The institutional quarantine period is increased as the administration has been receiving complaints of violation of home quarantine by people who returned from other states,” said the collector.
