Bhubaneswar: Rain coupled with thundershower and lightning is likely to lash 18 districts, including Bhubaneswar city, on Sunday evening, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in nowcast warnings.
Issuing the warnings at 4.40 pm, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar sounded orange alert for four districts and yellow message for the rest.
The weather agency said rain/thundershower with one or two intense spells may affect some parts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nuapada and Balangir districts within next three hours. An orange warning was issued for these districts.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning.
Similarly, light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning may affect some parts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city), Angul, Jajpur, Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Nayagarh and Rayagada within next three hours. Yellow warning was issued for these districts.
