Bhubaneswar: One or two intense spells of rain is likely in some parts of Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, and Koraput districts in Odisha till 5 pm on Thursday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of minor damage to loose/unsecured structures and standing crops in these areas.
Yellow warning of light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning has also been issued for 11 districts, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, during the next 3 hours. The districts, which are likely to be affected, are Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Boudh, Nabarangpur, and Deogarh. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Notably, the MeT office has forecast heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places in Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar and heavy rain at some places in Bargarh, Sonepur, Balangir, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Cuttack, Khurda, and Puri till 8.30 am on Friday.
