Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning of rain and lightning for around 12 districts by 10 pm on Wednesday. Warning was also issued for state capital Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city.
The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar issued an orange alert for seven districts for moderate rain/thundershower with one or two intense spell of rain within next three hours. The districts are Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Jajpur and Jagatsinghpur.
Water logging in low lying area, occasionally poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban area are likely to take place. People have been advised to avoid movement in affected area and do arrangement for drainage of excess water.
This apart, yellow warning was issued for districts like Bargarh, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Khurda (including Bhubaneswar city), Puri and Gajapati where light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning likely to affect areas within next three hours.
People are advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning strike
