Bhubaneswar: With the deep depression over west central and adjoining the Bay of Bengal gradually weakening, rain is likely to decrease significantly in most parts of the state, the local meteorological office said on Saturday.
According to the weatherman, the depression moved in north-northeast wards and now lay centered 150 km south-south east of Gopalpur and Paradip. The system is likely to move northeast wards along and off Odisha coast towards West Bengal and adjoining Andhra Pradesh coast. However, the system is expected to weaken gradually into a well-marked low pressure, local meteorological centre director Sarat Sahu said.
Rainfall is likely to occur over northern Odisha during the
next 24 hours. The amount of rainfall would decrease subsequently in the next two days, Sahu said, adding, squally winds reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is likely to prevail along north Odisha and West Bengal coast.
According to the office of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Puri recorded a maximum of 68 mm of rainfall, followed by Jagatsinghpur with 67.3 mm and Kendrapara with 44 mm.
Similarly, Khurda, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar recorded rainfall of 20 mm, 19.5 mm, 11.8 mm, 14 mm, 2.1 mm, 2.2 mm, 1.2 mm, 0.2 mm and 0.1 mm respectively.
