Inter-State Bus Terminal In Bhubaneswar Likely To Be Functional Next Year; Know Its Facilities

Bhubaneswar: The state government targets to complete the ongoing work to develop inter-state bus stand at Baramunda in Odisha capital to a metropolitan-like terminal with all modern facilities by March, 2023.

Secretary (5T) to chief minister VK Pandian along with vice-chairman of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Sanjay Kumar Singh visited the site to take stock of the progress of the project at the old bus stand. “The terminal’s design has been made by Delhi-based Integrated Multi-modal Transit System Limited. The construction of the terminal has been expedited and it will be complete within the stipulated time frame,” TOI quoted Singh as saying.

The BDA had taken up the construction of the new terminal withe a budget of Rs 180 crore. It will have 115 bus bays and 300 idle parking spaces. Besides, there will be facilities for car parking, shops, restaurant, canteen and police outpost on its premises, sources said.

While the terminal area is spread over 11.5 acres, the idle parking space will be constructed in 9 acre. It will also have food joints, ticket counters, staff rest room and passenger lounges. The terminal has been designed to accommodate 143 cars at a time.

The old bus stand has been demolished for the new complex which will be a multi-modal transport hub with focus on intra-city, intercity and interstate bus services. Around 130 shops will come up on 15,884 sqm area of commercial space which will have a basement plus three floors (including the ground floor), the sources added.

The new complex will also have wifi connectivity, fire detection and modern fire-fighting mechanism, area-based real-time parking information display system, passenger information display system, passenger announcement system, CCTV surveillance, water treatment system, solar power, sewage treatment plant and effluent treatment plant for bus wash.
