Inter-State Bus Terminal In Odisha Capital To Be Complete By June 2022

Bhubaneswar: The construction of the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) near Baramunda in the city will be completed by June 2022.

Officials told this to 5T Secretary VK Pandian during a review visit to the project site on Sunday morning.

The 5T Secretary stressed on maintaining the quality of works and completion within the deadline.

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) is building the ISBT over 15.5 acres of land at a cost of Rs 180 crore. The bus depot at Khandagiri is also part of the project with a parking capacity of 300 buses.

Pandian also inspected the construction of a parallel road to the Jayadev Vihar-Patia road taken up by the Public Works Department (PWD).

The 13.6-km-long parallel road will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 92 crore. The new road will substantially reduce the traffic load on Jayadev Vihar- Patia road. It will connect CRPF Square to the Institute of Mathematics in phases.

At present, 5.17 km of a six-lane road is being built to connect Xavier square to Infocity square. This project is expected to be completed by February 2022.

Pandian also went to Chandrasekharpur to review the affordable housing project taken up by the BDA. He suggested early allotment of the houses so that the beneficiaries can monitor the progress and quality of the construction.

The project with 2,600 houses will come up over 20.21 acres. Of this, 6.5 acres of land is earmarked for development by a PPP partner. The colony will have community facilities like primary school, primary health centre, shopping area, play area, etc. The project will be completed in two phases by September 2022.

The 5T secretary later visited the Incubation Tower near Infocity. The Tower is being constructed by IDCO at an estimated cost of Rs 221 crore. The project will comprise 13-floors with two basement floors. It will come up in two towers with built-up area of 3.36 lakh sq. feet. The project is scheduled to be completed by December 31.

Pandian discussed the project with IDCO officials and told them to complete it within the specified timeline.

BDA Vice-Chairman and BMC Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Singh, Secretary, Works Krishan Kumar, Special Secretary to Chief Minister R Vineel Krishna, Executive Director IDCO Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Engineer-in-Chief-cum-Engineer Member of BDA, Rajendra Kumar Nayak and senior project officials accompanied the 5T secretary during the visit.
