Kolkata: A day before the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose is again in the news for the wrong reasons.

Accusing the Governor of “interfering” with the polls, Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Thursday lodged a complaint against Ananda Bose.

The ruling party in West Bengal complained that Bose was attempting to visit polling areas during the ‘silent period’ and on polling days, specifically on April 18 and 19.

“A complaint against Governor CV Ananda Bose has been lodged with EC (Election Commission of India) for repeatedly interfering with the ensuing Lok Sabha Elections, 2024 and attempting to visit poll-going areas during the silent period and on polling day,” PTI quoted a TMC leader as saying.

On Wednesday, the Election Commission advised Bose to call off his tour of Cooch Behar on April 18 and 19. The constituency in north Bengal is scheduled to vote on April 19, the first of seven phases.

As per the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), the mandatory 48-hour silence period before polling came into effect in Cooch Behar on Wednesday evening.
