New Delhi: Comptroller and Auditor General of India Girish Chandra Murmu has been elected as External Auditor of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Geneva, for a three-year term.
He will assume this prestigious position shortly, Office of CAG said.
The retired IAS officer from Odisha and first LG of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir took oath as the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India on August 8.
He is the first Odia to be appointed to the post.
A native of Betnoti in Mayurbhanj district, the 1985-batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer was the principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi when the latter was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. He is considered a close confidant of the Prime Minister.
