The International Day of Families is celebrated on May 15 every year to mark the significance of familial bonds and their role in our well being and development.
The day has added significance this year with people cooped up at home with their families amid the COVID-19 lockdown. It’s more so as family members act as pillars of hope and encouragement at this time when everything around seems bleak and uncertain.
Accordingly, the theme for this year is ‘Families in Development’. Through this theme, the UN has visualized to revive the concept of a true family and what it means in our personal, mental and social development.
It is only through a family, that a person can let go of sorrows and fears to become a happier and better person.
So, celebrate the day by sitting and spending time with your family, to learn and let them know what they mean to you. After all, this pandemic too shall pass. but ‘family is forever’.
