Puri: In a boost to sports in Odisha, the Union Sports Ministry on Wednesday approved a project for establishment of an international-level stadium with ultramodern facilities at Puri.
The stadium, which will be set up with an investment of Rs 7.5 crore under the Centre’s flagship Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan, will have all required infrastructure for track and field, indoor court for badminton, table tennis, ultra-modern gym, gallery, training and lodging facilities for the players.
The district administration will provide land for the stadium near Talabania here. However, the tender works will commence after a detailed project report is prepared. The new stadium will go a long way to promote sports and sportspersons in the state, official sources said.
