Paradip: In a bid to promote polymer industry in eastern India, a Product Application and Development Centre (PADC) has come up in Paradip.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday inaugurated the PADC set up by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) with an investment of Rs 43 crore through video conferencing.
Set up near IOCL’s refinery and pharmaceutical complex on 5 acre of land, the PADC is a laboratory of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) under the Ministry of Science and Technology. It is second such establishment in eastern India.
The PADC will help development of newer grades from Paradip to curtail polymer import. It will work in collaboration with Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Bhubaneswar; Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Chennai and National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune.
