Mumbai: The 16th season of Indian Premier League (IPL) will kick off on March 31 with a blockbuster clash between defending champions Gujarat Titans and former four-time winners Chennai Super Kings at the gigantic Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad.
According to the fixtures released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday, a total of 70 stage matches will be played across 12 venues over the course of 52 days.
The Playoff matches will be played on May 23, 24 and 26, while the final is scheduled to be held on May 28.

For the first time after three years, the IPL will revert to the home-and-away format after the easing of COVID-19 situation.
There will be 18 double-headers in IPL-16, with the day games starting at 3.30 pm and evening match from 7.30 pm.
Rajasthan Royals will play their first two home games in Guwahati before playing the remainder of their home games in Jaipur.
Punjab Kings will play five home matches in Mohali and, then, their last two home matches in Dharamshala.
The venues for playoffs and final will be announced later.
