Pune/Hyderabad: Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad sealed first two spots on the points table by scripting wins against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils respectively.
In the first match on Saturday, Mahendra Singh Dhoni lived up to the expectations of being a finisher and smashed three sixes in the 18th over to seal his team’s fate.
Batting early, Chennai restricted the visitors to 127.9, thanks to Ravindra Jadeja who clinched 3/18.
Opener Ambati Rayudu gave Chennai a good start, and took it to a respectable score as Shane Watson was bowled in the third over. After a brief scare due to loss of wickets, Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo took charge and sailed the team to a win.
In the second match of the day, Yusuf Pathan smashed 27 runs of 12 balls to register seven wickets win against Delhi Daredevils. Pathan’s crucial knock helped his team to retain the top spot on the points table.
Earlier while batting, Prithvi Shaw (65) and skipper Shreyas Iyer’ 44 helped Delhi to post a total of 163/5.
