IPL 2023: Bats & Equipment Of Delhi Capitals Players Stolen At Airport!

New Delhi: Delhi Capitals have made the worst possible start in IPL 2023, losing all five matches so far.

To compound their woes, several bats and other cricket equipment of some of the cricketers were missing from their luggage after they landed at Delhi airport from Bengaluru.

According to a report in The Indian Express, 16 bats, pads, shoes, thigh pads and gloves were stolen from players’ kit bags.

Delhi Capitals, who lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday, flew back to their base the next day. But it was on Monday that the team came to know about the missing kits.

Three of the missing bats belong to skipper David Warner, two are of allrounder Mitchell Marsh, three of wicketkeeper-batsman Phil Salt, and five of Indian youngster Yash Dhull, the Express report said. The bats of foreign cricketers reportedly cost around Rs 1 lakh each.

The affected players have contacted their agents requesting the respective companies to send a few bats before Delhi Capitals’ next game, at Ferozeshah Kotla on April 20.
